This solution enables secure account-to-account transactions between merchants and customers through the use of a quick reference code that conceals actual account details. When both parties bank with the same institution, the system facilitates direct fund transfers within the bank. In cases involving different banks, transactions are processed through LankaPay, ensuring effective interbank settlement.

DirectPay offers several advantages, including simplified access, reduced transaction times, and decreased costs. Users can complete payments efficiently by scanning a merchant’s QR code via the mobile application, eliminating the need for physical cash or traditional payment methods. The system operates entirely within Sri Lanka's financial infrastructure, supporting local authorization and avoiding reliance on third-party devices.

Operationally, merchants display QR codes that mask their banking information at their premises. Customers scan these codes, input the payment amount, and confirm the transaction. Upon completion, both parties receive SMS notifications: merchants are notified of the received payment, and customers receive confirmation from their bank. If both merchant and customer hold accounts with the same bank, the transfer is executed as an account-to-account transaction; otherwise, the payment is processed through LankaPay.

Security is a fundamental aspect of the application. During registration, users must provide their primary account number and a pre-registered mobile phone number linked to the bank. The app captures the device's IMEI number to prevent unauthorized secondary device use; if a device is lost or replaced, users must first update their mobile number in the bank’s records via official channels. To access the system, two security features are employed: a password for app login and device verification through IMEI. Procedures are in place for secure device or SIM card changes to ensure user authentication remains intact.
